Domain Name Registration for a New Enterprise: Tips to Have a Catchy Domain Name

According to some studies, there are more than 60 domain names being registered worldwide per second. No doubt, it is very important to be creative and choosy in case of domain name selection. Being short, logical and accurate does make the domain name catchy and memorable.

If a new enterprise needs to register its domain, it must certainly contact a domain registrar. The process of domain name registration is fairly simple. The first step is to decide what kind of domain needs to be acquired. While the most common choices are .com or.net, a company can also opt for .info or .biz for its website. The next step is to determine the period. Most registrars have certain plans which range from one year to ten years. Companies are also offered for contract renews once it expires.

Another significant aspect of domain registration is the cost involved as per the length of contract. It is always recommended to snoop around or search for domain name registration referrals before opting for a registrar. Beware of some established domain name registrars that provide domain registration at rates which are 200 percent more expensive than what standard registrars charge.

Opting For an Appropriate Domain Name:

Choosing a domain name can sometimes be tricky. However, following some useful and simple tips can result better traffic and minimize the chances of duplication.

Be Short: Lengthy domain names are more prone to spelling errors while typing into the browser. It is a fallacy that long domain names tend to be more descriptive. Actually, long names are difficult to remember. A short, but catchy domain name does the best trick for attracting traffic.

Be Logical: During the process of domain registration, it is very important to register a name that logically matches the theme or purpose of the website. For example, if a site is all about digital cameras, one should register bestdigicams.com. One can even use the name of the enterprise as a domain name. For instance, if the name of the company is XYZ, one should register as xyz.com.

Be Accurate: Being accurate with domain name is crucial, especially if the domain name registrar has a minimum qualified period for refund. One should always spell check before the domain name registration process. However, registrars refund within 5 days of registration if there is something wrong.

Besides, it is essential to know the different aspects of domain registration to acquire a new domain name. A good knowledge about the domain name registrar is important, which is an organization that acts as middleman between the registry and the client website. Your domain name registration service provider helps you by offering the right options for selecting a suitable web address or host name.

Before You Register Domain Name Know These Facts First

Let me tell you a story before I go into details about how to register domain name. There was a certain businesswoman who owned a small shop in the center of a populated town. Her business was to sell cakes. Her cakes of different shapes were the hottest sale in town.

She had many buyers but there was something she lacked. Guess what she lacked. Oh! You can’t guess the correct answer? Let me help you. Her shop had a name but it was not a catchy one. It was not only a long one but also difficult to pronounce.

Just a name denied her the return of customers to buy her cakes. Distance customers did not trace her shop again. Even recommending it to people was difficult since recalling and pronouncing the name was not easy.

Like this businesswoman, many websites have lost quite a number of their surfers. Websites owners make a mistake when registering domain name. They select poor quality domains. I mean they fail to register the ones that are catchy and easy to memorize.

A domain name is the one that will identify your website from your competitors. If you register a good quality domain name that surfers are able to remember any time, then be assured of getting new traffic each day.

Surfers will recall the name easily when recommending your website to their friends. Once these friends go ahead and click your website and indeed find your website content is useful to them, they go and recommend it to their friends and even family members. This process goes on and on till your website suffocates from surfers.

Let’s say you have five thousand surfers who remember your website name and actually recommend it to their friends. Once these friends visit it and find that it’s useful they go ahead and recommend it to five thousand more friends. At the end of the day you will find that you have almost fifteen thousand surfers.

That is really wonderful! Is it? Then make no mistake when registering your domain name for your online business.

Imagine what if you have a website that gets hundreds and thousands of clicks every day. Make this happen today by clicking all about domain names to get the secrets that will help you select a good quality name for your online business. You don’t want to miss these secrets.

Register Domain With Google – A Review Of Google Apps For Your Domain

Click Here for The Best Resources and Information on Registering Domain Names

Google Apps for Your Domain is extremely useful for folks with their own domain names who want to take care of a lot of e mail, calendar, and homepage clients for it. Google Apps for Your Domain won’t become your domain host, however it does offer a lot of providers, like Gmail, Google Calendar, a Start out Page (just like iGoogle), Google Docs, Google Talk, and many others. The big difference in between Google Apps for Your Domain services and free vanilla Google products and services is what you’d expect: the domain.

For instance, if your area is thedavisfamily.org, making use of Google Apps for Your Domain, you may setup a lot of consumers who get Gmail, GCal, a personalized start page, and chat all with usernames like michael@thedavisfamily.org, jennifer@thedavisfamily.org. Your users would log in to some Google hosted control panel (which it is possible to customize by using a thedavisfamily.org logo), and all their e-mail would get sent with their customized area electronic mail since the From: address. With Google Apps for Your Domain, if you choose to move email providers away from Gmail, you’ll be able to do so with out modifying or sacrificing your domain address.

The disadvantage to Google Apps for Your Domain is that Google seems to roll out new attributes somewhat slower for it versus non-domain Google offerings. Google’s magnificent mobile Gmail app, for example, only operates for straight-up vanilla Gmail accounts.

I’ve got Google Apps for Your Domain set up for two domains, and I love it. Basically you receive all of the goodness of Gmail et al. (safe-keeping, spam handing, and so forth.) with complete portability, and if you’re a sector administrator, you can effortlessly handle and create other people’s accounts, as well. In the cost of totally free, that’s a pretty sweet offer for small businesses and organizations, specially considering that most web hosts charge for extra e-mail addresses and that type of storage room.

Google Apps for Your Domain doesn’t produce internet hosting in the classic sense; like, there may be no FTP admittance on the server, by way of example. There may be Google Web page Creator, which includes a very good in-browser WYSIWIG internet page editor and 100 megabytes of room to upload pictures and files, which can be flawlessly serviceable for any nameplate web site. If you want full on world-wide-web hosting, you can use a non-Google provider but nevertheless use Google Apps for Your Domain Gmail and the rest.

domain name registration

Until I let the domain registration expire, this was the design motif for my personal website. It is based on a design on plates and bowls that I’ve been eating off of for most of my adult life. I think I originally got them at Pier One. When I first joined Flickr, I wasn’t sure I wanted my real name attached to any of it, so I used my domain name as my identity.

Now, however, I’m thinking I’m going to start using Flickr under my name. I’m also re-evaluating my website needs. I’m considering hosting a site myself, instead of purchasing hosting. This would give me more flexibility, but at the cost of greater complexity. I don’t think the ‘Blue Fish’ will be a part of any new site that I make.

The A-b-cs of Domain Name Registration

The A-b-cs of Domain Name Registration

New Page 1

Before registering a

domain name, know the facts. Domain name registration is easy – finding the

perfect domain name for your personal or business website is not! There are

thousands of possibilities for your domain name, but you can only choose one

domain name for a website. So, you must make it count! Here are some pointers to

get you started with domain name registration. It’s easier than you think.

Keep your Domain Name Simple

A domain name should be simple so visitors will remember it easily. What’s

easier to remember – three or four words, or only one or two words? Obviously a

short, simple domain name is easier to remember. The shorter the name, the less

likely people are to misspell it as well. Your goal in choosing a domain name

should be to find one that is easy to remember, easy to spell, and will stand

out in the minds of visitors. It should be related to your products and

services, or personal website theme.

TIP: Avoid using your company name initials or your own name initials. These do

not describe anything at all about your website’s theme. Visitors will not

remember it unless you promote it heavily on national television and all over

the Web. But, we’ll leave that to “Corporate Web” for now!

Domain Name Registration Pricing

Don’t be fooled by high domain name registration prices. Whether you pay a cheap

domain name registration fee or a high fee, you’re still getting the same thing

- a domain name! There’s no secret add-on service that can benefit you unless

you’re getting web hosting or a low-cost web site with your domain name.

Otherwise, domain name registration is the same whether you order a cheap domain

name or an expensive one. Be sure to shop around before you register.

Checking Domain Name Availability

You can visit almost any web hosting site to check the availability of a domain

name. Never assume a domain name is available just because it doesn’t show

online when you try to bring it up in your browser. If a domain name is not

showing online, it could be that the site’s server is down at the moment, the

owner is still designing a new web site and hasn’t put it online yet, or the

owner might be trying to sell the domain name. When you check to see if the

domain name is available, you do not have to purchase it from the site where you

checked. You can purchase it from any company that offers domain name

registration once you know it is available.

Beware of Expired Domain Names

If you are considering buying an expired domain name, do research before

completing the domain name registration process. You could be wasting your

money! Ask the registrar questions about why the domain name has expired, what

type of site it was before expiring, etc. Some expired domain names have been

banned from the search engines all together because they were used by spammers

or those selling illegal products or services. If that were the case, you’d be

better off finding another domain name. Once a site is banned from the search

engines, getting it listed again is almost impossible. Your chances for good,

targeted traffic are next to none.

Web Hosting and Domain Names

Some companies offer both web hosting and domain name registration. Others might

offer one or the other, or a combined package where you can get a low-cost web

site along with a cheap domain name and web hosting. Though it’s easier to keep

up with billing and expenses if you do all this through one company, you are not

required to host your site with the same company where you register your domain

name. It will not affect how your web site services are handled, or how you

operate your site.

Domain name registration can be an easy process once you decide on the right

domain name. Your domain name will be a key player in your online success, so

take your time to choose a winner!
